Blog Resuscitation

I have been hearing lots of comments about my lifeless blog so I decided it was time to breath a little life back into it!! I have felt so guilty for not recording all of the little daily things Jake says and does so I am making a promise to do better. We have been super busy around the Steelman house so it may take me awhile to catch you up!!

I will start with the most exciting news, not necessarily the most recent! :) Jake is going to be a big brother! His baby sister, Avery Ann, is due to make her appearance on October 2nd which makes me about 23 1/2 weeks along. It has been a fairly easy pregnancy up until this point, I am just completely exhausted!! We are all so excited to meet this little girl(and I think Jon is a little nervous)!

Jake is growing up so fast!! I just can't believe he will be three in only 5 more days! He talks NON-STOP and definitely keeps me on my toes! For the most part, he is a lot of fun but we definitely have our moments! We have officially left the "terrible twos" behind and moved on with the "horrible threes!" I have always heard that three is worse than two and I am now a believer!! I heard some one say there is the terrible twos, threatening threes and the fortunate fours (as in fortunate to have survived 2 and 3)! We will get through it, I'm sure, it's just not too pretty some days! Katy can testify!! :)

Jake loves animals (at a distance), the water, playing ball with his daddy, riding his bike, playing with play-doh, and all things Toy Story...just to name a few! We recently made a trip to San Antonio where we took him to the zoo, Sea World, and the River Walk to ride on the boat! He had a blast!! We also spent a couple of days at Lake Ouachita with Mam-maw and Paw-paw!! He had so much fun swimming in the lake and riding the boat! It looks like we will spend a lot of time in the water this summer.

We are having his 3rd birthday party this weekend at the Fun Factory here in Cabot. He is soooo excited!! He has made it very clear that he wants a Woody cake so that is what it will be!! I can't wait to see his little face light up! Stay tuned for pictures!! I will try and post pictures of all our adventures soon, but I will leave you with a video of him riding his bike! I know he needs a helmet...it's coming!

Bye Bye Baby Bed...

A couple of weeks ago, we converted Jake's bed to a "big boy bed!" This is why...

I was a little sad, but he loves it and is doing great! I will post a picture of his new bed as soon as I can remember to take one!

Pumpkin Patch

Early in November, we made the trip to Northwest Arkansas for our niece, Abigail's, 13th birthday party! We had such a great time! Most of the family was there so Jake had a absolute blast playing with his cousins! On Saturday, we took a little road trip to Missouri to check out the pumpkin patch! It was a place that you could very easily spend a whole day with everything they had to do! Jake's favorite part was the cows but they also had a HUGE corn maze (that took us about 30 minutes to get through), slides, corn cannons, cow train rides, hayrides and more!

October...

I'll just state the obvious...I am WAY behind! I feel quilty so I am going to try to catch this up, which will require a little trip back in time!

If I remember right, it rained most of October so we did not get the chance to go to the pumpkin patch before Halloween. But, we did have a dry, fun Halloween day. We went to our church for the Harvest Festival that afternoon and then had some friends over to our house for a little Trick or Treating. Jake (boxer), Owen (chef), Gabe (train conductor), Tre(Spiderman) and Mya(kitty cat) had a great time collecting their treats! It was so cute...Jake finally figured out that you were supposed to say "trick or treat" towards the end! Here are a few pictures...

Funland

On Saturday, we went to Funland at Burns Park with the Hill's. It is a little "amusement park" that has been around longer than I have! Jake loved all of the rides so much that we had a little meltdown when it was time to leave.

Let's just start with my favorite picture of the day!(Click on the picture to see their faces a little better) Owen did warm up to the rides, but I am so glad he allowed us to capture this face first!

Jake's favorite was definitely the carousel. Mainly because of his love for horses.

Yes, I did ride a few! And it even lifted me up off the ground! ;)

Jake is about to ride his first roller coaster, ever!

It was a little more fun once Owen decided to join him! Goofy kid!

The train.

We're still alive!

Hello again...I am back from my summer blogging hiatus! ;) We've been busy having lots of fun. Let me fill you in on a little bit of what we've been up to! Hang with me, this is going to be a long one! Jake loves being outside so, for me, that means a lot of sweating!

He loves the water so one of his favorite activities is playing on the water slide. Here is some of the action. I have a feeling we will make at least one trip to the emergency room with this child.

We look at earth worms

Mow lots of grass

Abbie Kate, Jake's cousin, got to spend a week in Arkansas! We had so much fun that Jake did not know what to do when she was gone. We took a trip downtown for the day and did lots of fun things. At the Peabody, we watched the infamous ducks make their grand entrance into the fountain for the day. We were joined by Katy, Owen, Melissa, Tre and Mya.

If you have never had a chance to see the ducks for yourself, here is your chance

We also had a picnic, played on the playground and splash pad, had push pops and rode the trolley!

We made another trip to Chucky E Cheese and, thankfully, Chucky never made an appearance.

Jake loves horses so we used most of our tokens here.

The library had the Game and Fish commission come for story time and they brought along the mobile aquarium. The kids loved looking at the "fishies" as Jake would say.

There is so much more I could share. Jake is growing into a little boy so fast these days. He is talking tons more and is just so much fun. But, I will save that for another day. ;)
